Tyler Baltierra's Dark Confession Shows Just How Serious Child Abuse Is

Source: google.com

As some people know from watching Teen Mom, Tyler Baltierra didn't have an easy childhood. He was raised by a single mother and his father, Butch, is a drug addict and has been in and out of prison his entire life. However, there were several details that MTV left out.

In a recent post from his twitter, @TylerBaltierraMTV, states the following:

"Everyone assumes they know me or a lot about me. You only know what the network wanted you to know," Tyler writes. "No one knows I was molested at the age of 8. I drank my first beer and smoked my first joint at 9. I was kicked out of ALL the schools I went to. I was addicted to stealing & attempted suicide twice," he continues. "So next time you think you REALLY know someone…. Don't judge, keep your heart & mind open & learn to love your enemies…. That's all I have to say."

Child abuse is a serious problem and its affects on the children link very similarly to Tyler's. According to childwelfare.gov, adults were abused as children likely suffered poor mental and emotional health, as well as cognitive and social difficulties. Experiencing childhood trauma or abuse is a major risk factor for borderline personality disorder, depression, anxiety and other disorders. One study found that 54% of depression cases and 58% of suicide attempts were connected to traumatic experiences, such as child abuse. Children who were abused also show a greater risk factor for grade repetion and academic failure. They are also more likely to engage in criminal behavior, substance abuse, and domestic abuse themselves.

Tyler experienced many of these affects from being an abused child, but became a stronger person because of it. He has delt with his issues and moved on to a bigger, brighter future. However, he has decided to become open about his past in hopes of making people more aware. Child abuse is a very serious problem and should not be ignored in today's society.
