Tyler Baltierra's Dark Confession Shows Just How Serious Child Abuse Is

Source: google.com

As some people know from watching Teen Mom, Tyler Baltierra didn't have an easy childhood. He was raised by a single mother and his father, Butch, is a drug addict and has been in and out of prison his entire life. However, there were several details that MTV left out.

In a recent post from his twitter, @TylerBaltierraMTV, states the following:

"Everyone assumes they know me or a lot about me. You only know what the network wanted you to know," Tyler writes. "No one knows I was molested at the age of 8. I drank my first beer and smoked my first joint at 9. I was kicked out of ALL the schools I went to. I was addicted to stealing & attempted suicide twice," he continues. "So next time you think you REALLY know someone…. Don't judge, keep your heart & mind open & learn to love your enemies…. That's all I have to say."

Child abuse is a serious problem and its affects on the children link very similarly to Tyler's. According to childwelfare.gov, adults were abused as children likely suffered poor mental and emotional health, as well as cognitive and social difficulties. Experiencing childhood trauma or abuse is a major risk factor for borderline personality disorder, depression, anxiety and other disorders. One study found that 54% of depression cases and 58% of suicide attempts were connected to traumatic experiences, such as child abuse. Children who were abused also show a greater risk factor for grade repetion and academic failure. They are also more likely to engage in criminal behavior, substance abuse, and domestic abuse themselves.

Tyler experienced many of these affects from being an abused child, but became a stronger person because of it. He has delt with his issues and moved on to a bigger, brighter future. However, he has decided to become open about his past in hopes of making people more aware. Child abuse is a very serious problem and should not be ignored in today's society.

Teen Mom 3 Series Premiere Recap: "Hope for the Best"

Briana DeJesus with daughter Nova and sister Brittany. (theashleys reality roundup.org)

The time has (finally!) come for Teen Mom 3 to begin and I'm so excited. The start of this show has been anticipating for over a year and MTV is finally getting it on the air. I particularly like this group of girls because they are more genuine examples of real teen moms. Unlike some former cast members (ahem Farrah Abraham and Jennelle Evans), these girls' top priority is being a parent, not getting arrested, making sex tapes, or getting plastic surgery. So get on with the show.

Briana DeJesus- Briana is the single mother of daughter Nova. Her sister was pregnant around the same time, but chose to have an abortion. Nova's father Devoin is rarely around so Brianna does most of the parenting by herself.

In this episode, Briana's mother discusses with her and her sister how disappointed she was to find out they had been sexually active behind her back and how they don't need boyfriends right now. Briana is on a government assistance program call WIC, but Briana explains that if Devoin had put in his part as a father, they would not need the government's help. Briana then finds out that Devoin has been bullying him her and decides to file a protective order against him.

Mackenzie Douthit- Mackenzie is a small town cheerleader with a boyfriend Josh who is a bullrider. When she got pregnant, Josh had to give up bullriding to find a job, while Mackenzie continued to cheer.

Mackenzie and Josh are now engaged, but don't look like a very affectionate couple. On their 2 year anniversary dinner, Josh barely makes eye contact with her. Josh continues to act distant, until he discusses with his friend how much he loves her. Josh apologizes to Mackenzie and everything is good again.

Katie Yeager- Katie is a Wyoming girl who once had dreams of going away to college in Denver, until she got pregnant by her boyfriend Joey. Now Katie is stuck living with Joey, taking community college classes online, and working at a kids clothing store while Joey works full-time at a coal mine.

Katie is afraid that Joey could die from a cave-in at work, but Joey shrugs it off as if it's no big deal. Then, later Joey brings Katie's car home with a major dent in it. When Katie asks him what happened, Joey tells her that his backed into the car. When he refuses to get his aunt's insurance information, Katie calls the cops to file an accident report. Joey appologizes to Katie and they make up.

Alex Skella- Alex is a spunky girl with a drug- addict boyfriend named Matt. As a young mother, Alex juggles her daughter Arabella, online high school, and three (!) jobs.

Alex is anxiously awainting Matt's return from rehab and her mother is letting him stay at their house, as long as he helps out around the house. Matt immediately starts slacking, but her mom straightens him out. Alex's mom agrees to babysit Arabella so they can go out and they go well, until he wants to to get food from a bad part of town. Alex is worried because he used to buy drugs there and the two get into a huge fight over it.

Next episode: Briana drops the court order, Mackenzie asks Josh to move in with her, Joey proposes to Katie, and Alex continues to have reservations about Matt.

Couples Therapy Season 3 Finale Recap: "Season Finale"

Catelynn gets emotional when thanking Dr. Jenn.

This season's finale starts where the last episode left off: with Joe and screaming at each other and them each going to their significant others to vent. Dustin tries to calm Heather down telling her his opinion of people doesn't really matter, while Joe storms into his bedroom venting to Abbey about classless and pathetic Heather and everyone in the house is. (Really Joe, I'm sure every single person in the house has more class than you do. When Joe and Abbey come out of the kitchen, Joe starts to controll who Abbey associates with by telling Catelynn to stay away from her.

Later, Joe sits down with Temple to talk out what happened. Temple gives him wise advise, but Joe gets defensive, telling her she's on everyone elses team. After this talk Joe and Abbey decide they have had enough of everyone in the house, so they decide to leave early.

Joe tries to get Temple to see things his way.
No, Joe. You're upset because she's telling you the truth and you don't want to hear it!

On their final night of therapy, the couples get to spend some alone time on dates to acess their relationship and discuss their futures.

Dustin and Heather go to a restaurant for a romantic dinner. As they talk about their future, Dustin pulls out a surprise for Heather: a gorgeous bracelet symbolizing his commitment to her. Heather is stunned and the two of them have a great time on their date.

Dustin buys a bracelet for Heather.
So cute:)

Meanwhile, Flav is pulling out all the stops for his dinner date with Liz, first surprising her with a room full of flowers that literally looks like a garden. Liz is impressed as they go to their date to talk about their future. They discuss the challenges they are about to face with a baby on the way and how they will get through them.

Flav shows Liz a new romantic side.
This is the first time we see Liz happy in weeks.

Instead of going to dinner, Catelynn and Tyler decide to stay back at the house and have an intimate yet romantic date in the hot tub. They discuss their decision to call off their wedding and how to move forward in their relationship. They come to the conclusion that even though they're not ready to marry, the love they have for each other won't change.

Catelynn and Tyler go on a hot tub date.
These two are still as adorable as ever ;)

Chingy and Temple decide to cancel their date, due to their relationship problems and constant bickering. After getting some helpful advice from Tyler, Temple comes to the conclusion that she has had enough and if therapy didn't help their relationship, nothing will. Chingy and Temple attend one last couples session with Dr. Jenn to discuss how to part ways respectfully and peacefully.

Chingy and Temple discuss their decision with Dr. Jenn.
Chingy and Temple's split was definately for the best!

On the last day of therapy, Jenn has one last group session with the couples where they discuss their journey. Many of the couples and even the couselors get emotial as they reflet on the progress they've made as individuals and as couples. After the metting, the couples start packing up and preparing to go home.

Joe and Abbey return to the house to discuss the fight with Heather and the progress they've made in therapy. (Jenn is going to continue to work with them in outpatient therapy as well as get Abbey help with her eating disorder.) The couple then returns to the house to make ammends with everyone. The couples all their goodbyes and all head home.

Joe and Abbey return to discuss the incident.
I don't know amount of therapy can fix Joe's attitude!

You can watch the episode here: http://www.vh1.com/video/couples-therapy/full-episodes/season-finale/1712636/playlist.jhtml

Did you like the final decisions the couples made about their relationships? I guess we'll have to see what happens in their futures!
